The problem in motorsports is

Talent isn’t enough…

Did you know?Going from karting to Formula 1 can cost$8–$10 million.

From the grid

My dad spent something like £20,000 and re-mortgaged the house several times in our first years. But today it has gotten so expensive, so there are very few or no working class families on their way up. It is all rich and wealthy families.

Lewis Hamilton7-time F1 World Champion

Currently I think it’s way too expensive and unaffordable for most.

Sebastian Vettel4-time F1 World Champion

That is totally absurd, [and] needs to stop, because we want to have access. I think we need to give access to kids that are interested in go-karting, the opportunity to race for much more affordable budgets.

Toto WolffMercedes F1 chief

There are so many junior series that young drivers don’t really know which is the best path to take. Junior motorsport is still fragmented and expensive and that alone doesn’t encourage those with a dream of F1 to enter the sport, or for the genuine cream to rise to the top.

45,000 dream. 500 make it.

Team estimates.

45,000 enter go-kart championships globally

14,000 reach go-kart championship level

13,500

500 make it to Formula 4

Formula Five is the bridge for the 13,500 who are talented enough — but priced out.

Why Formula Five?

“After dedicating over 40 years to Motorsport, starting from Rallying and progressing through roles such as navigator, Service Head, test driver, driver coach, team owner, and team principal, I have witnessed the financial challenges that parents encounter in supporting their children’s racing dreams. It’s truly disheartening to see gifted young racers retreat from the sport due to its overwhelming costs. This experience led to the inception of Formula Five.”

Development Driver and Brand Ambassador

Professional racing driver and Formula Five partner. Son of F1 legend Niki Lauda.

“Formula Five, an affordable racing car, is such a brilliant concept. Racing has often been a sport reserved for those with deep pockets, but this idea can truly democratize motorsports.”

Offering an affordable entry opens up the field to many more aspiring drivers and teams, therefore providing a far broader talent pool, wider supporting community and most of all, much better racing!

Because it aims to bridge the rather large gap between go-karting and F4. A proper, modern entry level race car that has safety designed into it from the start and all at an affordable cost! That’s a dream!
